Tips and hints for beginners

  1. Study your squad to get to know your team. The most important value for your players is their Judgement. Divide players up in First Team and Reserves so you have a better view on your potential starting eleven.
  2. Setup the tactics for the next game. This step will also make it more obvious where you need to strenghten your team and what players that you might want to trade away. You can learn more about the details of tactics by studying Tactics guide, but in this early stage you might just skip that and setup whatever tactics and formation you think would fit your team based on your football knowledge, gut feeling and the players value in judgement.
  3. Check the Assistants Report to see what the potential of your players are.
  4. Set up a more intense training schedule. Your players only need about 1-3 rest periods per day, the rest of the slots you can fill with different training activites. A recommendation is to create different schedules for your Goalkeepers, Defenders, Midfielders and Attackers.
  5. Adjust your ticket price upwards if your stadium is full at your matches. Adjust it upwards in small steps until you see that the stadium is not full at every single game. That should be the optimum ticket price level.
  6. Check the players available for loan on the Loan list, especially if you are managing a team from the lower divisions. This is a cheap way to strenghten your team.
  7. Sign players on Free Transfer. This is especially important if you are managing a team from the lower divisions since players with decent values in Judgement rarely is available on the Free Transfer list.
  8. Check the player game rating values that they receive for each game played (scale 0-10), this value gives you a good indication of how well the player performed in that game.
  9. Transferlist players that you do not feel have a future in your squad. Selling players will lower your salary expenses and give you room to strenghten your team with other players. Players with low values Judgement will be harder to sell, at least for a good price. But if you have players with low judgement that you have no use for and your Assistant Report indicates that the player has no potential, list them for a cheap price anyway. Computer managed teams from the lower divisions might spot them and buy them from you, that at least gives you some money for them.
  10. Check the transferlist for players to sign that will strenghten your team. It is easier to find players on the transferlist if you are a lower division team looking for players with judgement up to rating Good. If you are looking for even better players you might need to start scouting the market outside the transferlist.
  11. Search for non-transferlisted players to sign. You will have a better chance of signing players from teams that are not managed by a real-life person, so called computer managed teams, or when trying to buy players that does not make it to the starting eleven in other managers' squads.
  12. Play a few matches and learn the details of the tactics. By now it could be good to start studying the Tactics guide in detail and set up a strategy for your team. The tactics you are looking to utilize will also be important when setting your strategy and goals for player trades.
